About Caterer Alison Mesrop

My passion for food and cooking began when I started cooking dinner for my family and friends as a little girl growing up in Westchester County, New York. Both of my parents worked and would come home late or tired, so I cooked. No one asked me to do it — I just wanted to. Cooking dinner was so satisfying and fun that I began playing restaurant and enlisted my two sisters as waiters. I loved inventing endless variations on risotto, crostini, and gazpacho, and still do to this day.

After graduating from college, I worked for a year at a Manhattan catering company. My time there was invaluable. I learned how to price and make the proper quantities. But I wanted to be more creative and be more involved in creating menus with clients. So I began my own business.

Twenty years later, I still insist on doing all of the shopping and cooking myself. Seeing the seasonal food in the market always sparks fresh ideas and I visit my butcher and fish and vegetable vendors on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx so often, they’re like family.

If you're planning a party in the New York metropolitan area (NYC, Westchester, Connecticut, New Jersey) and need a full-service caterer who can plan a memorable personalized menu, then contact me at ali@alisonmesrop.com.
